We help many dogs in California because 800 dogs per day are dying there. The lack of spay and neuter, and education also adds to the problem leaving many agencies with very limited resources to help the animals. Rescuing dogs is incredibly rewarding – and it can also be exhausting for us and the dogs!
Before we are able to commit to saving a dog, we need a committed foster home. We pull dogs when they are in danger of being euthanized in high kill shelters. We then arrange transport of the dogs and put them into temporary care homes. We prefer to have our dogs in homes because this allows us to know our dogs behavior and personality better. It also allows the dog to start learning what it is like to be a part of a family and what is expected of them. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

Pet stores are over selling dogs, backyard breeders, & puppy mill dogs are a big part of the problem. As they breed the new trendy dogs, these “less desirable” dogs are discarded. The dogs end up in the streets and shelters. All of our dogs have been examined by a vet, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and loved. Send us an email at and we'll send you a foster application.

Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. Ferry Dog Mothers is a Seattle area animal rescue dedicated to saving and rehabilitating dogs. We are proudly foster based, meaning our dogs live in homes, not shelters. Our foster homes just need to provide the time and TLC.
